The Advantages Of LED Lights
LED stands for light-emitting diode. They're most commonly used in the indicators in your car and traffic lights. LED lights excel at being constantly turned on and off over a very long time period. If one diode dies there are enough left not to compromise the light provided by the others which is why they last so long. LED has replaced the traditional incandescent lamps as they're more environmentally friendly and energy saving, because they last longer they don't require as much maintenance either. This means the ROI is much greater making them a practical investment for businesses.
It has to be addressed that legislation is strict for LED beacons and warning lights. The organisations responsible for the application of those rules are FAA and ICAO. It is part of the legislation that any building higher than 45m has to be lit up so it can be identified from miles away. Any construct that could potentially be a risk for any aircraft such as bridges, buildings and chimneys need an LED beacon. That is another argument why LED lights are the best electrical components for this job. They are characterised by great durability so they can cope with extreme external weather conditions. These warning lights are designed to rotate a complete 360 degrees.
LED lights cannot be seen just in construction and industrial sites as many people think. In recent years we've started seeing LED lights become more common in the home too. LED lights are very energy efficient although they last for a long time. LED lights are available in many different colors, whereas in the past they were available in red only. Connecting a wind turbine generator to a battery?
Dear all,
I have a 1.5V generator for wind turbine and two 1.5V rechargeable batteries. I would like to know what do I have to connect between them?
1- I know I will need a charge controller. Is there any out there for 1.5 volt?
2- For the diodes how many do I have to connect? As I have I have 2 batteries and I would like the generator to charge them both at the same time.
3- Will I need an inverter? I read that batteries always charge on DC input. I have a DC generator?
Please if you can think about anything else that could be connected between the wind turbine generator and the batteries, let me know.

Jerry Lee gave a good answer. Diodes are available with less than 0.2 volts forward drop. I think they are called shotkey diodes. Likely your 1.5 volt wind turbine can supply 1.8 volts which is about the minimum to charge the two batteries in parallel. If not, a nicad battery only needs about 1.3 volts to charge = 1.5 volts with the diode. You can omit the diode if you can devise another way to disconnect your wind turbine from the batteries, when there is little or no wind, otherwise the turbine will run as a fan discharging your battery.
Solar lawn lights use a dc to pulse converter to power an LED, about 4 volt pulses, I think. You could use another diode charging a 10,000 (or more) microfarad capacitor rated 4 volts or more, to get 3 volts dc, from the pulses. Unless your wind turbine has 12 inch blades or more, you will likely find that it takes days instead of hours to charge your batteries. Neil
